Our employee diversity enhances our ability to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse student population Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA) Job Duties Job Duties The Human Resource Coordinator is an entry level human resource consultant equivalent position primarily responsible for supporting clients with their staffing needs, which includes the attraction and retention of a talented workforce, as well as providing job evaluation analysis and assisting with employee relations issues. Guided by the employee life cycle model, the Human Resource Coordinator will work with and support the human resource consultant team at the Saskatoon Campus to problem solve matters and ensure consistency in service to clients. As the institution evolves in our business, services and culture, the Human Resource Coordinator will continue to advance in service and support. This position is part of a team of seven human resource consultant and 3 human resource coordinator positions located strategically across the province that serve clients in each of our geographic locations. It is part of the broader team of human resource advisory services and includes one manager, HR systems & reporting, two team leads, five human resource assistants and three human resource analysts that report to the director, human resource advisory services. The Human Resource Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Human Resource Consultant on diverse tasks that will support the assigned client portfolios assigned to the Human Resource Consultants at the Saskatoon Campus. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE Specific Accountabilities Recruitment Managing the recruitment process (full cycle recruitment) in support of client areas and campus employees. This will include job posting development and advertisement, screening, assessment and interviewing, and hiring. Consult with clients and Human Resource Consultants to ensure current job information and classification and identify special occupational requirements as required prior to posting Develop and implement recruitment strategies for hard to recruit or highly specialized/skilled positions. Ensure salary recommendations are appropriate and equitable and within the parameters of the collective agreements or policies. When needed, assist in LR matters as it relates to recruitment activities and process. Job Evaluation Provide support to the Human Resource Consultants on job evaluation, ensuring job descriptions are accurate and reflective of the work being performed. Provide advice, guidance and support to clients and campus employees in job description writing, as well as working with Human Resource Consultants to complete and make recommendations on classification. Client Services Develop an understanding of the client’s business and operational needs with an emphasis to recruitment, selection and onboarding of new/existing staff. Provide input regarding HR practices and processes, or where opportunities for improvement exist. Provide support to clients with general HR inquiries. HR Operations Assist with analysis of human resource analytics and metrics where needed or appropriate. Assist with the implementation of new HR initiatives. Keep up-to-date with human resource best practices in other comparable institutions and drive for continuous improvement within internal HR practices, as well as conducting research on specific issues as required. Ensure confidential and sensitive information is protected at all times. Relationship Building Internal Create strong, proactive relationships with fellow HR team members and support areas, as well as with other areas within HR. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with other Saskatchewan Polytechnic clients/employees and campus community focused on providing clear and effective information, advice and resources. Establish and maintain effective interaction ensuring services are communicated and responded to in a timely manner. External Build relationships with and respond to requests from external agencies, government and other educational institutions. Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA) A diploma in human resources, or related discipline with additional post-secondary human resource education along with a minimum of two years of human resources experience is required, preferably with recruitment and selection. A professional human resources designation and experience working in a unionized setting would be an asset. Desired QSA
