Purpose of the job: To manage the shipments and transportation of goods by planning the Order Books and schedule optimally in accordance with Sales, Production and Transport Plans. Balanced Scorecard Pillars, Roles and Responsibilities: SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc. Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.) Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to analyse, identify trends, initiate, mitigate, investigate and report SHEQ status CUSTOMERS Customer Relations: Render the right service first time Interact with customers and familiarise yourself with operational concerns and any inherent peculiarities Maintain and enhance Samancor's reputation as a reliable and reputable supplier Suppliers Relations: Liaise and deal with product issues, i.e. quality and stock constraints, with Sites Liaise and deal with logistical issues (Ports, Transporters, Shipping lines, Rail, etc.) BUSINESS PROCESSES Scheduling: Provide Production information to Marketing Maintain and update Master, Rail, Road & Shipping Books Monitor production levels, ensuring they are in line with shipping requirements and/or Order Books Optimise the Order Books to deal with imbalances Monitor and optimise shipping costs and/or inventory levels Ensure compliance with Marine Transit Insurance and other in- and external rules, regulations, policies and legislation Arrange Site and Logistics Service Provider Shipping instructions Oversee all SAP Invoicing transactions Oversee the finalisation of all Customer Shipping documentation Conclude all 3rd Party material Quality and Weight inspection certificates for all port incoming and final shipment end Customer analysis Coordinate the booking of container and bulk vessels freight desk or freight broker Coordinate the dispatch to Local customers Monitor Rail service provider performance as per SLA ADMINISTRATION: Exports: Liaise with plants or mines to check availability of material Book suitable vessels for customer orders (container ships) Maintain Departmental IMS requirements Maintain Customer Complaint registers Manager MES Issues report ensuring zero tolerance Quality: Deal with and resolve customer complaints GROWTH Business Improvement: Initiative and participate in improvement projects as required SHAREHOLDER VALUE Financial Management Assist in the preparation of budgets, costing and/or any other shipping related reporting Control costs in area of responsibility Oversee all SAP invoicing Report Shipping Volumes (monthly and for the quarter) Report Weekly on the Shipping Status for the current month Assist with all financial queries both internally and externally, i.e. from service providers Ensure Corporate Governance Comply with Financial Policies and Procedures Protect company assets Workplace Competencies: Skills: Flexibility and adaptability Work calm under pressure Understanding the Exports business Documentations Administrations Compliances and Statutory Regulations Advance Microsoft Office Advanced transport / material or other scheduling knowledge Advanced communication skills both writing and verbal Ability to work logically and systematically Good time management Ability to make decisions and solves problems, as well as think laterally and offer solutions IT literacy and the ability to handle and analyse electronic data Knowledge: Advanced understanding and knowledge of total logistics and or supply chain management involving road, rail and shipping Advanced understanding and knowledge of Total Quality Management Product Knowledge of Chrome Ore and Ferrochrome Knowledge and understanding of surface operations at Mine to producing a saleable product on stockpile Knowledge and understanding of post tap hole operations at Smelters to producing a saleable product on stockpile Understanding of operations related to rail and road transport at sites including movement to destination Minimum Qualifications: Degree or National Diploma in Logistics/Commercial Management or Supply Chain Management 4 Years’ relevant experience in Shipping and Export of Commodities Additional Qualifications: SAP Material Maagement experience or equivalent Advanced Shipping and Export Certification
