Reporting to the Associate Counsel, Legal, this position is responsible for but is not limited to administrative functions required by the Legal Department related to legal and regulatory matters, support for strategic initiatives, ongoing activities related to maintenance of department policy and procedures of both local and Corporate levels, creating and maintaining documents, tracking and monitoring status of department projects, maintaining electronic filing systems, legal budget reconciliation including tracking of outside counsel fees, and preliminary research. Maintaining confidentiality and discretion of work product is a significant component of this position. 1. High school diploma is required. 2. Associate's Degree is preferred. 3. Two (2) years of college or business school with training as a legal assistant and at least two years experience in a legal assistant role is required. 4. Five (5) years of legal assistant or legal secretarial experience in a law firm or corporate legal department setting may be substituted for education. 5. Experience in the healthcare field is preferred. 6. Knowledge of and experience with legal terminology, preparation of legal documents, sources of law and the court system in general, strong time management and organization abilities, effective oral and written communication skills, adaptable to change, and willingness to take initiative on projects is required. 7. Proficiency with Microsoft software (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project) and the ability to utilize database systems is required.
