Roles & Responsibilities Job Description 1.Responsible for establishing and accomplishing department goals and objectives, which support the organizational vision and direction. 2. Manages and coordinates maintenance activities so as to ensure trains are operational, serviced, and ready to meet daily service requirements. 3. Oversees the development, implementation and regulation of high quality maintenance strategy and regime for the upkeep of RS, PR and S&C facilities so as to maximize reliability. 4. Implements quality control measures. Develops and monitors systems of checks for compliance to maintenance procedures and safety rules. Monitors maintenance of assets maintained by external contractors. Ensures that quality and safety are integrated into all aspects of subordinate responsibilities. 5. Provides technical assistance and support to maintenance personnel as required. 6. Prepares annual department budgets; monitors operating expenses; make adjustments necessary for the achievement of budgetary goals 7. Provides direction and oversight on maintenance training programs to alleviate deficiencies and increase competency level for staff or career advancement opportunities. 8. Responsible for reviewing, implementing, and updating Emergency Operations Procedures relating to a variety of emergency situations. 9. Other duties arising from business needs or as assigned. Requirements 1. Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution. 2. A minimum of eight (8) years of working experience in heavy maintenance, preferable in a railway environment. 3. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. 4. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels, and with internal or external customers such as operation and transport authority officials. 5. Proven ability to effectively work with others in an operating and unionized environment. 6. Knowledge of Operating, Maintenance and Safety Rules and Regulations governing the railway industry.
