The Opportunity Finance The Finance department provides financial and business services (including day to day financial operations, business analysis, forecasting and budgeting), as well as procurement, insurance, contract and risk services at SAIT. The department acts as the institute’s corporate steward, complying with legislation and standards, maintaining key controls and budgets, reducing financial exposure, and providing guidance where risks exist. As the Contract Coordinator, you are a collaborative and client-centered individual who proactively mitigates contractual and legal risks. As a strategic partner, you will have the opportunity to deliver value and quality, while working with senior management and external stakeholders. You will play an exciting key role in developing diverse agreements throughout the full contract lifecycle. NOTE: This is a temporary, benefits eligible position with an end date of February 28th, 2021. The Role Develop, analyze and negotiate contracts in consonance with business practices, policies and procedures, and legislation. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Participate in contract negotiations from the legal and contractual risk perspective and act as a primary contact for negotiations and documentation Identify contract risk in SAIT's response to specific industry partnerships/collaborations and make recommendations to mitigate such risk Ensure appropriate internal processes are followed for review and signing of contracts in accordance with SAIT's contract management policies and procedures including the revenue signing matrix and related protocols Provide expert and strategic advice to institution on contractual and legal risks to the institution and identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks Safeguard interests and recommend sound solutions to business issues and conflicts. Exercise discretion in disseminating sensitive information, ensuring confidentiality is maintained and properly communicated. Act as a contact within the central contracting group and external legal counsel on all contracts and collaborative industry/partnership matters related to institution Send contract draft documents to relevant stakeholders for review as required, track progress, provide advice, and ensure turnaround is timely. Qualifications A post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field is preferred Minimum of 5 years’ experience in contract lifecycle management at a large complex organization is required. Minimum 5 years’ experience working with a variety of contracts and legal concepts is required. Minimum of 5 years’ work experience with diverse organizations, educational institutions, legal firms and government sectors is desired. Exceptional legal interpretation, contract analysis and negotiation skills. Ability to build relationships and articulate with diverse stakeholders. Adaptable and proactive in servicing client groups. Ability to balance risk management with commercial and business development needs. Superb time management skills and commitment to meeting priorities. Excellent conflict management and conflict resolution skills with an ability to problem solve Advanced level proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and internet research skills. Basic level proficiency in PowerPoint and Access. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
