Summary: Works to assure safety of patients, visitors, staff and property. Works proactively to prevent theft and vandalism. Work may involve high risk with exposure to potentially dangerous situations which requires range of safety precautions. Works with potentially unpredictable individuals requiring that teamwork and communication with other security officers and staff are critical. Physical interaction with such individuals requires strength, stamina, flexibility and critical thinking. Reports to: Director, Plant Operations Essential Functions: Performs proactive monitoring of and timely responses to potential/actual security threats. Investigates and manages all security incidents and hazards on the premises. Maintains knowledge of and follows policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans. Facilitates planned drills and simulations. Provides information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote their safety on the premises. Patrols hospital premises to prevent fires, theft, vandalism and intruders. Participates in investigations and maintains reports and documents relative to security activities. Controls parking and traffic flow, enforces parking regulations. Maintains departmental records, reports and files as required by supervisor. Minimum Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
