As a brand, we’ve always stood for quality. But not quality as the world defines it. The word quality has been co-opted by corporations; endlessly diluted and overused in empty marketing claims. It’s been rendered to a vapid statement, void of truth and integrity. A load of hot air. We’re here to change that. We are slowly creating a new mentality. We’re redefining what it means to be a quality brand. And we’re re-evaluating what’s at the core of a ‘quality life.’ Quality living is about getting rid of the perfunctory, superficial stuff. It’s about bringing a renewed focus to the simple, but meaningful moments. It’s about seeking less, and in doing so, finding more. So, we’re committed to: Seeking less status, validation, short-lived trends, fast fashion, quick fixes, and meaningless distractions. And finding more meaning, connection, creativity, contentment, and quality of life. It’s more than a pithy tagline. We use this ethos to inform our decision-making. To recruit the right people. The people who believe what we believe. To bring a sense of quality to every interaction we have with our customers. The people who are looking for timeless garments that outlast the whims of fast fashion. To design iconic stores that subvert retail conventions. The collision of hospitality and fashion to deliver meaningful experiences. To produce clothes that are both ethical and environmentally responsible. The protection of our people, and our planet. To be a different kind of lifestyle brand. One that takes a stand against an all-consuming way of life. TAKE THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED At Rodd & Gunn we admire leaders, visionaries and change makers. As a brand, we walk to the beat of our own drum and stay true to our ethos whilst conducting ourselves in an authentic way. We understand that as individuals we have all taken our own unique road to get where we are today, be it a competitive or creative route, or a work in progress. A World of Opportunities The Rodd & Gunn heritage dates back to 1946, when the brand's iconic logo – the English Pointer – was introduced into the New Zealand market. Today, Rodd & Gunn has 110 stores spanning across Australia, New Zealand and the United States. At Rodd & Gunn our people are everything. We employ only those we trust can embody our four cornerstone values - Pride, Loyalty, Honesty and Playfulness. These values are written into every part of our business and guide all our actions and decisions on a daily basis. We strive to build a happy, motivated and productive environment where our people are focused on respecting each other, the brand, the product, the customer and their role within our business. A 75-year obsession with quality. Since the first English Pointer was stitched on a range of boutique men’s shirts in 1946, we’ve been unwilling to compromise on quality. In fact, we can be borderline obsessive. In its current form, the brand was established in 1987 when the first stand-alone store opened in Queen Street, Auckland, New Zealand. And from that moment forward, the Rodd & Gunn brand became synonymous with quality. Over the years, we’ve earned a reputation for crafting timeless garments that are made to last. From the fabrics we source, to the techniques we use to construct our clothing, quality is the undercurrent that buoys us as a brand. It’s why we’ve traversed the globe looking for the finest cotton, the softest wool, and the most luxurious linens. It’s why we insist on sourcing biodegradable fabrics from renewable resources. It’s why we’ve been selective in our search for garment makers - from the family-owned textile mills in the heart of Italy to the Hungarian Szaalardi family who handcrafts our leather bags. It’s why we can confidently offer a two-year guarantee on all our goods. And, it's why our garments remain a favourite for years to come - handed down from generation to generation. An antipodean attitude. HERITAGE STITCHED INTO EVERY GARMENT Rodd & Gunn is synonymous with quality and has been committed to producing ethical and environmentally responsible clothes since our origins. We partner with the world's leading mills and garment manufacturers to engineer the most sustainable raw materials into long-lasting, low-impact garments. The natural environment is in our bones at Rodd & Gunn, so we have long strived to make sure our clothes don't compromise it. That's why we choose to source premium, natural, biodegradable fabrics, from renewable resources - such as cotton, linen and wool. SOFT, BREATHABLE AND DURABLE Breathable, absorbent, hypoallergenic, easily washable, and versatile, cotton is a mainstay of our collections. We craft our innovative outerwear and signature Gunn range from this natural resource. Our cotton is primarily sourced from sustainable Australian and American growers, renowned for their high land management and ethical farming practices. NATURE’S WONDER MATERIAL Every year, sheep produce a new fleece, making wool entirely natural and renewable. We select the highest quality wools from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and South America. Our wool growers incorporate the best land management and animal welfare practices, and the prestigious Woolmark licensing program independently endorses our woollen garments. NATURE’S COOLEST FIBRE Linen is nature's coolest fibre to wear, making it an ideal choice for summer. It's also one of the most biodegradable and naturally sustainable fibres. We source our linen from premium flax growers in France and Belgium. European flax growers respect the environment and enhance agricultural biodiversity, using no irrigation, no GMOs and generate no waste. Rodd & Gunn has long-standing relationships with some of the most famous textile mills in Italy and Europe. Our mills fuse traditional methods with the latest technology to produce superior fabrics, exclusively for Rodd & Gunn. Many of our mills celebrate a long history in the textile industry, supporting local townships and continuing to provide opportunities for many generations to come. A redefined retail experience. To us, a retail store is more than just a place to buy products. Our customers visit Rodd & Gunn lodges to get lost in an experience. So, we want to make every single interaction with our customers authentic, and memorable. After all, a sense of Kiwi hospitality is ingrained in our brand’s DNA. In 2016, we brought the world of fine dining and fine fashion together, when we launched our first Lodge Bar & Dining concept on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, in Queenstown, New Zealand. Inside our concept store, anything is possible - browse the latest collection one moment, then tuck into a delectable dish designed by our executive chef Matt Lambert the next. We’ve since opened a second experiential retail concept in Commercial Bay, New Zealand, which provides an elevated escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Auckland. With more concept stores in the works, we’ll continue to redefine retail in a way that is uniquely Rodd & Gunn. A timeless, relaxed living aesthetic. At Rodd & Gunn, we’ve always embraced a relaxed living aesthetic, no matter the season. Our collections are built around iconic, evergreen pieces that can be effortlessly styled to suit your lifestyle. We combine new-generation fabrics with timeless manufacturing techniques to produce garments that are classic, yet contemporary. Our collections are designed for the guy who is quietly confident. The man who is secure, discerning, and appreciates quality. He’s equally comfortable in a tailored linen blazer as he is in a casual knit sweatshirt. This sense of effortlessness and ease is embodied in our traditionally tailored shirts, high-quality knitwear, well-constructed pants and jeans, classic polo shirts, Italian leather shoes, bespoke leather luggage, and stylish accessories. A proud supporter of sport. Sport represents strength and endurance - values that ring true to us as a brand. We’ve enjoyed a long association with sports that reflect New Zealand's rich cultural heritage, including polo, ocean racing, and rugby union. It takes guts to build a sporting legacy, and we admire the athletes who are at the top of their game. The quiet achievers. The ones who are unwilling to take shortcuts. The ones that hear the naysayers and do it anyway. That's why we've proudly sponsored Team New Zealand, winners of the 2013 Youth Americas Cup. We've also dressed the legendary All Blacks and New Zealand's 2012 Olympic Team. A different kind of lifestyle brand. At Rodd & Gunn, we don’t just create high-quality menswear and accessories. We are slowly creating a new mentality. We’re redefining what it means to live a quality life. We’re opposing an-all-consuming lifestyle in favour of something that is outwardly simpler, but inwardly richer. As a company, we’re guided by our seek less, find more, ethos. It’s our north star. It informs how we design sustainable, low-impact garments, how we hire talent, and how we interact with you, our valued customers.
