At Robots and Pencils we help our clients build products through mobile, web and frontier technologies. We have an immediate need for an intermediate to senior designer to join our Calgary Creative Practice. As members of the Creative Practice we infuse personality, continuously adapt, are curious at heart, and care deeply about our craft. - Some baseline requirements for this role: Experience in an agency, marketing department, product incubator, or other creative environment Experience participating in the complete project/product lifecycle Solid grasp on design best practices and production standards Strong knowledge of creative tools such as: Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Flinto/Principal, Figma, Zeplin, Invision Studio, etc. Comfortable interfacing with clients with an ability to present work Ability to demonstrate regular, incremental, and visible progress Strong ability to communicate ideas by being articulate and persuasive A knack for thinking independently while consistently generating new, useful ideas Comfort asking questions and passionate about fighting status quo bias Adaptive mindset that adjusts well to feedback and changing priorities Embraces a lifestyle of continuous learning from process and tools to trends It’s a bonus if you have: Motion Graphics chops 3D Design experience Illustration skills A baseline understanding of User Experience design and UX Research A day in the life of a Creative Pencil: We are a fairly agile group who all enjoy wear multiple hats. We thrive on unique challenges and repeatedly figure out how to solve things in new ways. As a member of the R&P Creative Team, you’ll have your hand in each of the following: Creating hi-fidelity creative concepts and designs Distilling requirements, information, and requests into tangible user experiences Producing world-class work for apps, websites, infographics, brand identities, iconography, print materials, and any other relevant design medium Producing designs with an attention to detail that meets market standards including best practices, client parameters, WCAG 2.0, etc. Communicating with team members to define, implement, and iterate on designs. Collaborating closely with other roles and disciplines including Account & Product Managers, Front-end Developers, User Researchers, and UX Designers Assisting with task estimation and project conversations Being client facing, from participating in to leading client presentations Communicating project statuses, participating in design critiques, and being an active member of various internal meetings/initiatives/etc. About Robots & Pencils: Robots & Pencils is a digital innovation firm companies engage to create what's next.
