Required is an accomplished hands-on leader with experience planning, organizing, and leading the activities of an Engineering department. Responsible to complete product development from initial concept to final product. Accountable to ensure that existing and new designs meet a high standard, are safe and compliant. This may include research, design, development, manufacturing, inspecting, testing, attaining regulatory approvals and documentation. Your desire to work hard and lead by example is a required to be successful in this role. The successful candidate will be responsible to: Consult, negotiate and prepare specifications, explain proposals and present engineering reports and findings Lead, coach and mentor a team of engineering professionals Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed Assign, prioritize, co-ordinate and review the technical product development efforts of the department Set and adhere to company objectives, including design intent, quality, safety, efficiency, cost and timing Ensure delivery of engineering project commitments Monitor and report on design project status (% complete, schedule, risks etc.) Organize and execute continuous improvements to improve quality Effectively communicate with other departments that contribute to the company’s success Support quoting activities by offering specific technical assessments on feasibility, cost estimates, design lead time etc. Assess any requested changes and approve changes to implement Qualifications University education with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering coupled with a strong business acumen (Licensed through OACETT or PEO is preferred) 5 or more years’ experience in product development/ design Experience leading and directing an Engineering team/department or projects Capable of using 2D and 3D CAD software (Solid Works, Solid Edge) Skilled in the use of ERP systems as well as MS Office software Capacity to prioritize well in multi-tasking environment Excellent interpersonal and technical troubleshooting skills Goal driven and determined to deliver results International travel may be required once or twice annually In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarian's with Disabilities Act, 2005, should you require an accommodation, we will work with you to meet your needs during all aspects of the recruitment and selection process.
