The Operations Coordinator organizes baseball and/or softball activities for events such as 1 day instructional clinics (at The Ripken Academy and on the road), multi-day camps, weeklong overnight camps, coaches’ clinics, leagues, weekend tournaments, weeklong tournaments, and other related programs. For camps, the Operations Coordinator works with the designated Camp Director(s) to design instructional drills, games/contests, and an overall structure to the camp activities that will result in a memorable baseball camp experience. Each day’s activities are planned and coordinated with instructors, campers, parents, counselors, vendors, partners, and the rest of the Operations Staff. For Tournaments, the Operations Coordinator will be involved in all of the pre, during, and post operational components to ensure a high quality experience for the players, coaches, and parents from each team. The Operations Coordinator will supervise seasonal employees and interns to make sure all operational components are up to the Ripken Baseball standard. Operations Coordinator will assist with off-the-field training for coaches on the Ripken Way and evaluate instructors on their ability to uphold the high standard that is The Ripken Way. Required Skills Responsibilities: Assist with organizing and implementing a variety of programming. Assist with creation of program budgets and work to stay within these budgets. Maintain an accurate and organized inventory of items used by the Operations team. Assist with creation of camp schedules and activities and explain procedures to seasonal staff (instructors, interns, seasonal staff) Assist with training camp/clinic Instructors on the Ripken Way. Supervise and evaluate the camp seasonal staff (Operations Interns and instructors) and assist them with their responsibilities at each program Encourage campers, instructors, and parents to have fun playing, learning, and watching the game of baseball. Assist with the operation of Ripken Baseball Coaches’ clinics. Serve as a Clinic Director for the annual Chevy Tour which requires supervision of seasonal staff as well as overseeing all aspects of the clinic operations to ensure a quality experience for Chevy and the participants Assist with the operation of the Cal Ripken World Series Assist with the overall operation of Ripken Baseball Tournaments which includes a variety of pre, during, and post tournament operational elements Operate the Manager’s meetings during Tournaments to outline rules and procedures. Provide a positive example for all participants in each program on safety, professionalism, and adherence to the Ripken Way. Build relationships with parents, coaches, staff, vendors, and partners handling any customer services issues with professionalism. Other duties as assigned Required Experience Qualifications: Required: Bachelor’s Degree in sports-related field such as Sports Marketing, Management, or Instruction Willingness and ability to work long hours, weekends, and some holidays based on business needs 2-3 years experience in sports instruction with young people Experience teaching baseball with the ability to learn and teach the Ripken Way Experience evaluating players to determine ways they can improve their skills Strong written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Positive approach to learning Strong work ethic Good planning, directing, and organizational skills Excellent customer service orientation to respond to needs of parents and campers Passion for the game of baseball with sound knowledge of the game and ability to teach and coach others Ability to work in a team environment Experience working with children demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding Ability to supervise others Preferred: Personal knowledge of what a baseball camp experience includes Demonstrated track record of working with young people Graduate degree in a sports related field Baseball Instruction under the auspices of Ripken personnel Former collegiate or professional baseball experience Working Conditions / Special Physical Requirements: Routinely required to work extended hours of time Physical ability to accomplish all tasks Routinely lift or move up to 50 pounds at least 20% of the time Routinely exposed to extreme hot/cold weather conditions, and dust / particles
