Statement of Purpose Works under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer. The Director of Security will provide operational oversight and administrative direction to the security team leading initiatives that provide for the overall safety for the patients, visitors and at Regional West Health Services. As the leader of the Security Department the Director ensures that the Security Team responds to assistance requests, emergencies, and fire alarms, escort requests of employees and visitors, and provides transportation support to employees, patients and visitors. Performs other duties as assigned. Reports To Chief Operating Officer Qualifications EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required or in lieu of degree 5-8 years applicable experience in security or law enforcement. LICENSURE: Current Nebraska driver's license. EXPERIENCE: 5-7 years prior security experience preferred. CERTIFICATIONS: o Ability to complete all training and pass all competency tasks in the allotted time period to include, but not limited to, TEAM training, RW new employee orientation and security procedures and policies. o American Heart Association's BLS for Healthcare Providers required within 30 days of hire. Primary Job Duties Responsible for the provision of daily security for the hospital and its properties. Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures. Supports achievement of the organization and departmental strategic plan, goals and objectives. Responsible for maintaining an adequate number of qualified staff needed to meet departmental and organizational needs. Functions in a proactive manner to determine the needed focus for security including new technologies and concepts for provision of services. Communicates appropriately and positively with employees, applicants and the public. Effectively interacts in a pleasant/professional manner with all internal and external customers encountered while performing job functions. Promotes staff development through mentoring, continuing education, and creating a positive work environment for security department employees. Leads efforts to assure strong customer service delivery by the department. Prepares and manages department budget focusing on efficient operation and quality services in assigned cost center. Strives to provide quality services through cooperative interdepartmental and intradepartmental communication. Coordinates with local law enforcement, as applicable. Investigates and documents security incidents. Leads and directs the activities of staff and assures the responsibilities and duties of the department are completed on schedule. Approves work schedules and job assignments for staff. Supervise assigned staff. Plans and conducts department staff meetings and educational in-services as assigned. Attends facility staff meetings and annual training sessions. All other duties as assigned.
