ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Conducts fraud and theft investigations, Provides supplemental support for the RDU Patrol Division, Assists with dignitary protection and other special assignments, Conducts Terminal security and safety swipes, Provides assistance to other local, state and federal Law Enforcement Agencies, Assists the RDU Training and Recruitment section, Verifies criminal history records, Performs related work as required. ABILITIES Ability to perform independently complex and sensitive investigative assignments, to apply sound investigative principles to difficult cases, and to report clearly, orally and in writing the results of investigative efforts. Ability to effectively plan and organize work independently. Ability to work calmly under conditions of high stress. Ability to work closely and in harmony with representatives of other law enforcement and investigative agencies in matters of common interest. Ability to prepare clear and concise records and reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms, and to present effectively in court KNOWLEDGE Working knowledge of federal and state criminal laws. Knowledge of modern criminal investigative principles, practices, and procedures. Working knowledge of information technology related to criminal investigations. Considerable knowledge of the collection, identification, processing and chain of custody of evidence. SKILLS Skills in the criminal investigation interviewing process. Skills in the use of firearms and tactical operations. The required National Police Officer Selection Test (NPOST) is scheduled for March 26.
