About the business Queenstown Garden Company is a gardening services provider, offering gardening and landscaping services to private and commercial customers. As a Gardener for our team you are required to work as directed within each project, either alone or more often as part of a team, to assist in delivering quality garden/grounds maintenance or landscaping services. You will be expected to be friendly and helpful to customers at all times, work with confidence and enthusiasm, be self motivated, adaptable, proactive and a team player. All training will be provided in garden maintenance and power tools, but garden experience would be an advantage. About the role You would be supporting one of our senior Gardeners with various projects. The following is a typical list of duties a Gardener will be expected to perform: Assisting in maintaining customer's garden and one off garden tidies. Assisting on landscaping projects (labouring eg Lifiting and moving plants and materials, digging trenches/holes for planting, moving stone/soil/mulch/compost, site clearing etc) Leaf/rubbish clearing and removal Loading equipment for transport Assisting with planting and repotting plants Hand weeding Assisting with Landscape Gardeners with all onsite duties as needed Mowing lawns Drain and culvert clearing Assisting with trimming hedges Operating a push mower, strimmer/brushcutter, hedge trimmer, combi-system (pole pruner, extendable hedge trimmer), leaf blower, pressure washer and other basic machinery. Training will be provided. Cleaning and maintaining tools at a basic level Ensuring all work is carried out in a safe and conscientious manner Skills and experience - Strong work ethic - This job will require heavy lifting - We work in all weather conditions - Gardening experience isn't necessary as training will be provided, although it is preferred. You just need a strong work ethic as the job is very labour intensive and a desire to learn new skills. - You will need a full clean drivers licence for manual vehicles - Fluent in english Perks! - We typically work Monday to Friday so you have your weekends and evenings free! - Option to work some Saturdays if you want (if you need the extra cash) - Learn new skills with full training provided - Flexible with time off if you need it - Different properties and jobs every day, never get bored - A small business so you can really feel part of a team and understand all aspects of garden maintenance. - $22.50 per hour Job Type: Full-time Salary: $22.50 /hour Licence: Drivers Licence (Required)
