Our Projects and Power Distributionteam is looking for an Electrical Engineer who is energized through solving challenging problems, values strong and lasting relationships with clients and co-workers, and wants to foster their career in a dynamic and growing industry. Responsibilities / Duties Development and design of power distribution and transmission systems (HV/MV/LV), including single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics and communication systems Preparation of project documentation including operation and maintenance manuals, control philosophy, and drawings Organization of, and participation in, design reviews and project meetings with both internal and external clients Specification and selection of electrical equipment, preparation of data sheets, preparation of RFQ's, and material requisitions Perform engineering calculations and analysis for demand load, equipment sizing, voltage drop, motor starting, neutral grounding resistors (NGR's), and system power factor improvement. Interface with Mechanical design team Assist with cost estimations and technical documentation for proposals Design substation layouts, grounding layouts and electrical equipment layouts including control panels, lighting, cable tray, switchgear and components Interface with vendors, review vendor bids, conduct technical evaluations and make recommendations Prepare electrical cable schedules Technical report writing and completion of test sheets Manage and schedule projects in conjunction with colleagues and clients’ needs and demands Track and be responsible for project costing and profitability Enthusiastically learn and research topics outside your area of expertise to implement within new designs May occasionally be required to perform engineering studies including, but not limited to, load flow, short circuit, coordination, Arc Flash, ground grid and motor starting analysis would be considered an asset Qualifications Required Electrical engineering degree, diploma, or other applicable certification Registration, or eligibility for registration, as a Professional Engineer, EIT, or equivalent with EGBC, is required Excellent knowledge of three phase power systems Knowledge of CEC and IEEE standards Strong knowledge of power distribution, switchgear, generation and substations Proficient in all applications of MS Office Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Willing and able to work out of town as needed Valid Class 5 driver's license & clean driver's abstract Must be legally entitled to work in Canada See the full job description on our Careers page at www.primeeng.ca/careers.
