Overview Our engineering department has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the engineering department including design, research, prototyping, documentation, estimating and process improvement. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Innovation Officer and collaborate with the design and production teams on design projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Working under the engineering division, you will be responsible in the design, research, prototype, documentation, estimation and process improvement of down-hole drilling tools Research new materials and methods of development Organize and maintain existing engineering records Collaborate with the design team on projects Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards Provide technical input that contributes to a thorough understanding of customer needs and PDC’s ability to meet them. Complete necessary paperwork and input data into company record systems as required. Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers by following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Identify and offer solutions to complex design challenges as they present themselves. Oversee the execution of the developed design concept to ensure the final offering stays true to initial and agreed-upon vision. Other duties as assigned Knowledge & Skill Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering 8 to 10 years of experience designing drilling tools/equipment Strong knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD software and drafting procedures Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes Understanding of current cutting tool technology Proficient in Microsoft Office, Auto Desk Professional, and AutoCAD Excellent prioritization and project development skills Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Passionate self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated effective deadline management skills. Strong interpersonal skills required to communicate with a broad range of individuals. Ability to analyze and interpret user requirements. Solid design and conceptual skills. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential and quiet noise. The employee will occasionally be in the shop environment; conditions there will create exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and a loud work environment. Travel may be required.
