Business Need / Purpose of Role: Summer Actuarial Internship Our Underwriting & Product Management team is seeking several Actuarial Interns to work on a broad range of actuarial projects related to insurance. These projects include loss estimation, rate setting, and reserving. Qualified candidates may also work on other actuarial projects including competitor analysis and reinsurance. Ideal candidates will have the desire to work in a cooperative and team-oriented environment. They must be self-motivating and have a strong work ethic. Additionally, candidates will have a solid foundation of analytical and statistical skills gained from related coursework and practical work experience. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Calculating rate level need across various lines and states Identifying, researching, and implementing the best practices in rate indication calculation Estimating ultimate losses across various lines and states Using database query tools to access, summarize, and evaluate data Communicating results of analyses and explaining technical details to management Qualifications and Education Strong written and oral communication skills Successful completion of at least one CAS/SOA exam required for second year students Excellent quantitative skills (Excel, SAS, VBA, SQL) A high level of intellectual curiosity and creative problem solving skills The ability to anticipate and pro-actively address issues that may arise About the Company The Plymouth Rock Company and its affiliated group of companies write and manage over $1.4 billion in personal and commercial auto and homeowner’s insurance throughout the Northeast and mid-Atlantic, where we have built an unparalleled reputation for service.
