N359 - Travel Advisor Role Profile An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Sustainable Transport Team for an enthusiastic person keen to work in a customer facing role outdoors and in various locations across the City. We are recruiting a committed and enthusiastic Travel Advisor who will provide one to one support for people in Plymouth, at their homes, in their workplaces and at events; offering Personalised Travel Planning (PTP), information and incentives to help people get out and about in Plymouth as part of the Council’s Plymotion campaign. Plymotion is a Department for Transport (DfT) funded project aimed at encouraging people to lead more active, healthier lifestyles while helping Plymouth to become a more sustainable city. Plymotion on Your Doorstep is the residential PTP campaign. Since 2012, through this project, we have visited more than 86,000 households in the city and the next phase of the programme includes an additional 3,000 homes. We will also be working with a wide range of businesses to deliver PTP to employees through Plymotion at Your Workplace as well as working with other external agencies to help support people trying to access employment, education and training, alongside an extensive events programme More information about Plymotion is available at www.plymouth.gov.uk/plymotion. If you enjoy talking to people, have a passion for sustainable transport, and understand the importance of making it easier for people to access work, education, healthcare and leisure opportunities by sustainable transport, we’d like to hear from you. The people we are looking for will have a professional approach, with excellent communication skills, be a team player, and have an ability to absorb and effectively communicate information accurately to different audiences. Good local knowledge would be helpful. Successful applicants will be expected to use sustainable transport when delivering PTP and the posts require some evening and weekend working. The post is available for immediate start (subject to all pre-employment checks). Training on how to deliver PTP will be provided. Travel Advisors will be provided with a uniform (royal blue Plymotion hoodies, polo shirt and coat Before the team start working in the community there will have been an area wide publicity campaign so that the public are aware of the programme (and have the chance to opt out) before we start knocking on people’s doors. The role is not a sales role. Instead the team are providing information and incentives about transport options available to people. When delivering Plymotion on Your Doorstep typical hours are expected to be Tuesday – Saturday 37 hours a week.
