An opportunity has arisen for a WASH Specialist to join the Development Programmes Unit (DPU) at Plan International UK on a fixed term basis. Plan International UK is a global children’s charity. We work to give every child the same chance in life. The DPU, part of the International Policy and Programmes Directorate, supports Country Offices by helping them to design high quality programmes, and by raising the funds from institutional donors needed to implement them. Plan International is one of three lead suppliers on the £100m DFID WASH Results Fund. The WASH Results programme is a commercial contract that follows principles of ‘Payment by Results’ whereby Plan International receives payment upon independent verification of reported results agreed with DFID. Plan International’s South Asia WASH Result Programme (SAWRP) is now in its second phase, which involves working in communities through Plan International and WaterAid in Bangladesh. The current focus is on sustaining the results gained in safe water supply, sanitation and hygiene including a strong emphasis on behaviour change. In the role, your main responsibility will be to ensure that the implementation of SAWRP activities are technically strong from WASH, behaviour change and gender perspectives. You will take a lead in strengthening the sustainability of the WASH interventions and in managing research and learning partnerships. You’ll also provide technical support on development of new funding proposals for WASH in other countries. You will have experience of implementing and/or advising on programmes in developing countries aimed at having a positive impact on sanitation and hygiene behaviour change, promoting children’s rights through WASH and monitoring and evaluating the outcomes. You’ll be skilled in designing and delivering training related to WASH. Experience with institutional donor funded programmes and policymakers would be advantageous. As this role entails providing in-country technical support, travel overseas for up to 25% of the time will be required. We anticipate that this role will be required until June 2021.
