Construction Engineer I POSITION OVERVIEW: Parsons Construction Group, Inc. (PCG), a division of Parsons is a direct hire heavy civil contractor that focuses on P3, Design Build & Design Bid-Build infrastructure projects in the US and Canada. PCG has world class construction expertise, capability and proven track record in self-performing a broad range of infrastructure projects. PCG is seeking Construction Engineer I for the Honolulu, USA location. The Parsons Construction Group's Construction Engineer I is responsible for assisting project staff in coordinating and executing onsite construction engineering activities for construction projects up to $100M to ensure quality and cost effectiveness. This position reports to the Project Manager. Performs difficult and complex field engineering assignments related to self-performed bid-build heavy civil infrastructure projects including water and wastewater treatment plants. The engineer at this level demonstrates expertise in applying engineering theories and general industry practices to resolve difficult problems. Provides leadership and functional guidance to craft and lower-level technical personnel. Willingness to relocate to construction site locations is expected. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborates with field superintendents and construction management for the completion of difficult field engineering assignments involving the development, execution, and coordination of complex construction activities. Provides technical evaluation of work in progress and resolution of constructability issues. Reviews and interprets design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and feasibility to perform technical execution of work. Provides resolution for difficult and/or complex technical engineering problems across disciplines and coordinates application of solutions. Provides technical guidance to site personnel regarding installations. Ensures that all work within his/her assigned scope of responsibility is installed in accordance with plans, specifications, and industry and quality standards. This includes ensuring that all tests and inspections are performed, witnessed, and documented in accordance with approved procedures. Ensure adherence to Project Quality Control Plan and resolve nonconformance issues. Collaborates with construction management and safety management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees. Ensures that personnel of the assigned group engage in safe work practices in compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards. Performs and document project safety inspections. Monitors construction schedules and assists in progress appraisal.Prepares production reports. Execute construction work plans along with Construction Management. Provides schedule and progress appraisal data to engineering and construction management. Monitors material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule. Completes the materials receiving reports. Maintains tracking log and quality inspection of delivered equipment stored until installation. Maintains a daily log for permanent record of project construction, as well as engineering data for the final project turnover and report. Updates As-Built drawings. Prepare task completion reports and punchlist. Coordinates with project stakeholders, including manufacturers representatives, plant operators, subcontractors and subconsultants for project acceptance. Maintains construction technical catalogs, supplier data, and other literature pertaining to the project. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline is preferred. Typically, incumbents have at least 2+ years of related experience at a field construction site on self-performed bid-build projects. SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: Requires a proficiency in engineering and construction-related processes, as well as industry practices. Also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as demonstrated leadership skills. In addition, familiarity with MS Office, CAD, P6 and other software packages typically associated with engineering and construction is required.
