EarlyON Program Facilitator Location: Port Cares EarlyOn Centres: Seaway Mall – Full Time Job Summary: The early childhood educator will prepare and deliver an interactive learning program for children ages birth to six years, their parents/caregivers, and provide support and assistance to families. JOB DESCRIPTION Facilitate an early learning program focused on the physical, cognitive and social development of children between the ages of birth and six years Listen and reflect with children, parents and peers to provide opportunities for supportive learning Provide resource and community support information Collaborate with staff, parents and children to plan and implement program according to children’s interests and developmental strengths and needs Attend to participants at all times during program hours Ensure compliance with policies and procedures of Port Cares and EarlyON Best Practices Maintain program, participant and staff confidentiality Maintain a professional relationship with parents and uphold a positive image of EarlyON Maintain a safe, nurturing environment, conducive to child development in all areas of the program Cleaning, setting up and storing program toys, etc., and opening/closing and other administrative duties EDUCATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Diploma in Early Childhood Education or Equivalency 5 years of experience in an early learning setting is an asset Valid First Aid Certificate Must have the ability to travel to Beamsville, Welland, Port Colborne, Crystal Beach and Smithville Clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance Registration and member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators Strong understanding of “How Does Learning Happen” together with proven program planning and facilitation experience Knowledge and skill in developing age appropriate quality early learning activities and programs for children ages birth to six years of age Above average written and verbal communication in English, fluency in French would be considered an asset Knowledge of community and social services Respect and sensitivity for individual cultural, educational and social uniqueness and diversity Ability to understand and support children, families and colleagues in a positive, non-judgmental manner Food Handlers Certification considered an asset To be considered for employment, a satisfactory Police Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Search is required.
