Banks everywhere are facing the same problem: legacy. And by no small measure. Ohpen's cloud-based SaaS solution is inevitable! Our cloud-based core banking engine is rapidly becoming the platform of choice for the financial services industry. Big opportunities are in front of us and we need to be ready for it: we are entering the pension market, in talks with Tier 1 banks and preparing for international expansion. You will play an important role in this by managing the Engineering department in Amsterdam of around 50 people, and growing it, together with our CTO. With such challenges ahead, you will never have a dull moment - we can promise you that. -------- BRIEFING -------- You will manage the day to day operations of our cross-functional domain (DevOps) squads. The squads are organized in a self-governing and autonomous setup, where they own what they build, each squad fully responsible for their domain, from front to back. We work hard to attract and retain the brightest professionals out there, and we empower these individuals rather than limit them. Your role is to support and help them to grow towards their goals. You get things done by a healthy mix of people management, influence, expertise, and authority. This enables you to unlock the creativity and inspire them to be the best they can be. You feel when people are struggling, or when teams are functioning sub-optimally. You are not afraid of dealing with conflicts, because in dynamic and high-pressure environments they tend to arise from time to time: -). You will also have plenty of opportunities to work across the larger technology organization, and lead various improvement and innovation projects in collaboration with our Enterprise IT and Infrastructure teams. ------------ REQUIREMENTS ------------ You have built, lead and mentored multi-disciplinary development squads and you are passionate about delivering valuable, high quality software systems; You are a people's person, with a proven track record of managing large, autonomous teams; You have a technical background, so leveling with high-performing engineers comes with ease; You know how to prioritize incidents, information- and change requests, and how to manage the day to day operation of a technology company; You have experience with or knowledge of high-performance, low-latency computing, concurrency patterns, optimization algorithms, performance & numerical correctness testing; You are an excellent communicator that can oversee projects and resolve conflicting priorities; A background in.
