Oakmount Control Systems Ltd are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated candidate to join their professional team as an Apprentice. During this 4-year apprenticeship, the successful candidate will be integrated into the Mechanical engineering department They will be required to attend college and apply what has been learnt in a practical environment. The successful candidate will learn skills including mechanical fitting, how to use lathes and mills, both manual and CNC based, as well basic welding and general engineering practises. The apprentice’s duties would be to support the company by accurately machining components to relevant drawings and standards, both for use internally and for existing and new external customers Requirements and prospects Desired skills Some knowledge of IT, electrical or mechanical products Good personality Able to communicate with other staff, managers, customers and suppliers Personal qualities Can use own initiative Problem solver Proactive Diligent Punctual Can work in a team Have a sense of humour Desired qualifications At least 4 GCSE grades 4-9 (A*- C) including maths, English and at least one Science subject or equivalents Future prospects If the candidate was successful with the apprenticeship and completed it to a high-level discussions would be held to discuss them remaining as a qualified member of Staff – Subject to the companies needs and requirements at the time Things to consider You must ensure you have suitable travel arrangements in place to get to and from work and to attend college. Part of the recruitment process for this apprenticeship will require attendance at an Assessment Event to be held at the Cornwall College Engineering Skills Centre in Plymouth.
