As a Network Engineer you will design and implement network infrastructure projects and work with the Systems Engineering team to provide 24x7 support. You will respond to, troubleshoot, determine root cause and resolve network issues. Oanda mission critical systems operate in multiple data centres in different time zones on a 24/7 basis. Offices are situated around the globe to handle all areas of the business. What will you be doing? Monitoring, measuring and reporting on performance, capacity and quality of Production networks and converged Enterprise networks Evaluate and implement network management tools Participate or lead in testing, evaluation and benchmarking upgrades to new and existing LAN/WAN supported products Provide up-to-date network documentation and inventories Be an active member in disaster recovery planning Work closely with the rest of the team to ensure compliance to existing OANDA networking standards Work with the Security team on projects and with Compliance team on audits. Designing and implementing network infrastructure in our production data centres and remote offices Take ownership and responsibility for the design, deployment, including but not limited to maintenance and monitoring of networks associated with our mission critical multibillion-dollar/day trading system Deployment and maintenance of OANDA network infrastructure for trading platform across multiple datacenters and corporate sites Architecting, designing, implementing changes via our change management process Work with the Security team to implement best practices, new tools and technologies Work with Compliance on regulatory audits Deployment and maintenance of IP Telephony and Contact Center Enable capacity planning for OANDA’s trading networks, infrastructure and software Identify areas of system improvement from an operations perspective Learn new technologies and act as a backup to other team members for these technologies as needed Provide support to operations and IT staff – investigate and troubleshoot system operations and performance issues Respond to emergency issues, organize expert response, and coordinate final resolution. Training, leadership and mentorship of junior and intermediate network design and troubleshooting skills in operations staff Collaborate with Legal and Compliance for any security incident or breach containment, assessment, mitigation and reporting Participate in a regular on-call rotation Vendor management We’re looking for candidates with experience with: Cisco enterprise and datacenter routers, switches and firewalls Juniper firewalls, F5 BigIP, and Fortinet firewalls/NAC/manager BGP, OSPF, Static Routing IPSEC VPN STP, Etherchannels, VPC, MLAG Syslog, RADIUS, NPS, 802.1x, RANCID, NTP, HA Python or other scripting languages Required qualifications: A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience 5+ years of networking experience in a multi-vendor environment Multi-datacenter and disaster recovery design, implementation, and support Design and implementation of network automation using Ansible or Python Experience operating a 24x7 mission critical environment Purchasing and relationship management with network and security vendors Strong understanding of ITIL Deep understanding of IP networking and protocols (layers 1-4), TCP and UDP debugging Network design for high-performance, secure and highly-available networks Deep understanding of IP protocols, including BGP, OSPF Deep understanding of WAN technologies, VPN (L2/L3), IPSEC VPN Quick thinking and problem solving under pressure Excellent written and oral communication Nice to have: Cloud Network Infrastructure design and support experience (GCP, AWS) Cisco, Juniper or Fortinet certifications 1-2 years Linux (RHEL preferred) system administration experience Telephony experience for managing and troubleshooting third party systems Fluency with at least one of Bash, Perl or Python scripting Experience in hybrid Cloud/OnPrem network infrastructure designs Datacenter experience (racking/stacking servers/network equipment) Good Knowledge of Voice Gateways, SIP trunks, signalling protocols such as SIP, H.323, MGCP, Ansible, Terraform OANDA Global Corporation is a diverse and global team with offices around the world.
