O’Reilly Media is currently looking for in-house counsel to join our legal team in the Boston office. Reporting to the VP of Legal Services, the ideal candidate will be a business-savvy, solutions-oriented attorney accustomed to working on high-profile sales deals in a fast-paced environment and who is able to: Negotiate and close complex agreements with key domestic and international customers, obtaining input and approval from internal stakeholders as necessary Prepare, review and redline agreements while meeting turnaround time commitments Develop new contract templates suitable for use in relation to new service offerings Respond to internal inquiries regarding contract terms, customer relationship issues, etc. Provide legal input and/or backup support on agreements being handled by contracts managers as requested Mentor members of the contracts team on contract drafting, negotiation strategy and best practices. Requirements: Juris Doctor plus at least one year of experience at a law firm and at least 3 years of transactional experience in-house Demonstrated experience balancing competing contractual requirements in creative ways Excellent oral and written communication skills with advanced knowledge of MS Word redlining functionality. Able to negotiate effectively both by telephone/video and in writing. Ability to articulate legal issues, risks, strategy and other concepts to varied internal audiences Background in IP/Licensing, with SaaS agreement expertise preferred.
