We are building a new team able to deliver and participate in complex system designs of embedded medical devices used in the operating rooms globally. The products team will work on complex embedded medical devices developed in alignment with the required medical standards. The scale of the technologies we are dealing with is very wide. From application software hosted on Real-Time Operating Systems down to the hardware abstraction software, firmware and hardware as well. The successful candidate will become a member of our Novanta R&D center in Brno which is providing a wide range of R&D services for various business units in Novanta. Brno designs full systems end to end from requirements definition up to production handover and lifecycle maintenance as well as platform component of bigger system and related critical competences expertise for global product development teams like WOM. Main Responsibility The project manager is responsible for planning and executing R&D projects in the field of minimally invasive surgery. The project manager together with his team plans and executes the project in compliance with internal processes and medical regulations. The project manager is the main contact for the customer and all other stakeholders. The project manager coordinates R&D resources from multi-technical domains as well as other company functions (in order to deliver per project commitments. Together with his System Architect creates a core team for project scope delivery. Requirements Good written and spoken English knowledge. Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree or experience desirable. 5+ years of project management experience, preferably on certified/safety-related products. Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in MS Office and Project tools. Experience with various project management methodologies/tools (waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Kanban…). Details The project’s scope can vary from complete product developments, subsystem/components development and modifications to existing products. Owns project’s triple constraint (Scope, Cost, Schedule), risk management and status reporting to senior management. Innovate teams project execution environment by assimilation of best practices tuned to fit the team (Agile practices, Waterfall, Effort estimation practices…). Coach engineering team in the quality of the effort and time estimation processes. Drive day-to-day activities to meet projects goal and schedule. Identify and manage the resources required for successful project execution. Provide a solution to the issues from production or from the field. Review Customer proposals, internal PRDs and work with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals. Manage product certification with external agencies. Coordinate cross-functional team Purchasing / Service / Production / Quality / Regulatory Affairs / Product Management on project scope delivery.
