From looking after our fresh and coastal waters, to protecting Northland from pests, the range is vast. In this role, your main focus is to assist with the delivery of the council's resource management policy and planning responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on options analysis, engagement and communication skills. This includes providing advice on the interpretation and implementation of resource management policy and plans, assisting in finding a balanced way of achieving environmental outcomes across a range of policy work and the preparation of relative plans. Do you have what it takes? Engaging people is a key part of developing resource management policy and plans, you will have the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and be able to present complex information to a range of audiences Analytical skills and strong written and oral communication skills Ability to apply project management principles Significant drive to continually grow and deliver high quality outcomes You could come from a range of policy backgrounds and local plan-making processes, but while some prior knowledge in the resource management field is advantageous, what is most important is that you are comfortable coming up to speed quickly with new issues. You must have a relevant degree qualification in resource management, public policy or planning and ideally 2 years' post-graduate experience.
