About the role Our Machinist’s within the Rollshop Maintenance Team deliver critical support to our Rolling Mills plants to ensure they are able to continuously deliver steel solutions to our customers. This role provides repair and maintenance services which requires a strong mechanical, analytical and mathematical competence. Reporting to the Rollshop Superintendent, key responsibilities include: Run cylindrical grinder machines and understand associated programmes Remotely drive cranes with loads up to 40 tons Support the planning of maintenance work utilising your mechanical knowledge and SAP skills Track and report work using a computer database Be a positive and constructive member of the team Ensure NZS Safety policies and standards are adhered to at all times and appropriate actions taken. This is a permanent, full time standard day position (8 hours, Mon – Fri), but extended hours on shutdowns, shift cover, supporting breakdowns and occasional call outs may be required from time to time. About the person Along with the ability to learn the required skills on the job and produce high quality work in a timely manner, the successful applicant will demonstrate the following skills and experience; Have completed a Mechanical trade or Mechanical NZCE or similar May have maintenance experience in heavy engineering industry Be computer proficient and demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills Proven ability to work under pressure and prioritise competing demands Attention to detail, work to high standards with minimal supervision Ability to problem solve and show a high level of initiative You will need to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork along with a willingness to positively contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment and an uncompromising attitude towards health and safety.
