Full-Time (>30 hrs/wk) Job Description: New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. And…we are GROWING! OVERALL PURPOSE: The job of construction laborer is often an entry-level position on road constrnction crews. Duties typically include installing the cones, signs and barricades that warn drivers and control the flow of traffic, acting as flagmen to stop or direct traffic, clearing debris from the work site, using jackhammers to break up existing pavement and tending equipment such as cement mixers or asphalt heaters. Employers typically train construction laborers on the job. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned) 1. Follow directions and complete assigned duties in a safe manner 2. May install cones, signs, and barricades to warn drivers and manipulate traffic flow around work site 3. May use hand and/ or power tools to assist with site preparation and job completion 4. See and communicate potential hazards to other members of the crew and avoid them 5. Communicate traffic requirements to the general public in a safe and cooperative manner 6. Be physically productive and fill in as needed on the crew to get the job done 7. Attend work on-time, as scheduled. 8. Perform assigned work in accordance with applicable safety standards. OTHER DUTIES: Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Superintendent SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervision is typically received from the [Paving Supervisor or Superintendent). SUPERVISION ADMINISTERED: This position typically docs not include the supervision of staff. INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS: This position is typically required to interact with all members of the Construction Crew in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job: QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED and/or Transportation to and from work sites PHYSICAL DEMANDS: CONSTANTLY INCURRED (over 75% time on job) Ability to communicate orally; Ability to hear conversation Ability to determine if work meets quality standards Ability to see hazardous conditions and avoid them Ability to read work instructions Ability to read and complete papenvork as requested Ability to see traffic movement and avoid moving vehicles FREQUENTLY INCURRED (25 -75% time on job) Ability to stand; Ability to walk; Ability to sit; Ability to use both legs; Ability to balance; Ability to operate truck/motor vehicle OCCASIONALLY INCURRED (up to 25% time on job) Ability to lift up to 65 lbs.; Ability to carry up to 25 lbs.; Ability to push up to 50 lbs.; Repetitive finger movement; Ability to use both hands; Ability to climb stairs; Ability to stoop; Use of depth perception; Use of color vision; Ability for rapid mental/muscular coordination simultaneously.
