NRC has been awarded a contract by Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) for the role of Systems Integrator for the Digital Systems Program for Sydney, a core element of ‘More Trains, More Services’ to deliver major systems upgrades across the Sydney Trains’ network over the next decade. The Digital Systems Program will replace existing signalling and train control systems with modern, internationally proven intelligent technology to enable more trains on track and therefore a higher frequency of reliable services for Sydney Trains’ customers. This role will play a key part within the Digital Systems Program. Your new role: You will be responsible for supporting the development, delivery and acceptance of operational systems required to successfully roll out ETCS Level 2 and Traffic Management Systems (TMS) for TfNSW. The role will support an embedded team of experts to deliver the professional management and control of operational specifications, variations, design approval and acceptance of systems to enable the efficient and effective delivery of an ETCS Level 2 and TMS ready operational train service for TfNSW. Key Accountabilities: Working to deliver the Digital Systems integration which meets the client and business requirements established by TfNSW Working with multiple directorates across TfNSW and their stakeholders to assist the determination of the Operational Readiness Strategy, tools and techniques for the program Manage the use of storage of evidence systems to allow a smooth entry into operational service for the newly installed digital systems Supporting the creation of the local Directorate Operational Readiness Lists for the project – through workshops, interviews, leveraging past experience in similar changes Monitoring progress across the System Integrator & challenging progress/status assumptions concerning operational readiness Provide expert advice and support the interpretation of the impact of proposed technical requirements for compliance on operations Supporting schedule audits (at initiative and program level) to ensure Operational Readiness items are adequately and appropriately covered and highlighted Assisting the development of a gated sign-off and readiness processes for the System Integrator program Support the Systems Integration Team to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key project milestones and performance objectives Support the compilation of any changes that are required to operations and maintenance that facilitate the roll out of digital systems Provide technical expertise for the implementation of operational specifications and procedures so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled and to ensure efficient, effective and safe working Provide planning, execution and specialist advice to other teams in the System Integrator Work with the wider TfNSW team and stakeholders to deliver an integrated solution that delivers on the client’s requirements Ensure a collaborative approach at all times with the client and all key stakeholders What you will bring to the Role: Essential Railway experience – including implementing significant change in one or more impacted areas (Maintenance, Train Operations, Train crewing, signalling operations, control operations, incident management, stations/customer services) Experience of Operational Readiness processes across a program lifecycle Experience writing Operational Readiness reports Experience compiling and collating evidence of files and stage-gate materials Developed report writing ability Attention to detail when listening to stakeholders (from many different disciplines) and capturing their thought processes, actions and progress summaries Ability to follow standards/procedures and ensure your activities are conducted in compliance with relevant administrative, financial and corporate governance requirements Ability to follow internal reporting standards/conventions – to support a client's financial, risk, safety and audit objectives Strong IT proficiency – including MS Office applications Ability to prioritise work and deliver to tight deadlines under pressure Desirable Prior experience in the delivery of change, compliance and/or complex projects Formal risk and/or project management qualifications Ability to integrate various data sources into a single log for upward reporting Knowledge/experience of working in the Australian rail industry This is an exciting unique opportunity to join an established and rapidly growing global rail consultancy business.
