Gerber Products Company dba Nestlé Infant Nutrition is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join its team at our Fort Smith, AR, facility. POSITION SUMMARY: Develop, promote and implement innovative HR solutions to meet business needs and increase organizational efficiency. Responsible for providing directions and assistance with employment, salary administration, performance management, employee relations, labor relations, employment law and workforce planning. In alignment with Act 593(B), this position is considered safety sensitive as this employee teams with SHE in reviewing confidential occupational and non-occupational information when returning employees to work. In addition, the position has access to all employee personnel and non-occupational medical files. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee Relations Provides advice and counsel to hourly and salary employees to maintain a positive, productive employment environment free of discrimination and inconsistencies. Monitor and provide feedback regarding policies, procedures and programs and propose improvements as necessary. Serve as a liaison for voicing employee concerns. Coaches employees, supervisors and colleagues, assisting them in problem resolution and to improve performance. Coach, advise and recommend corrective actions. Serves as liaison between the HR Service Center and employees for escalation issues. Support line leaders to improve skills and effectiveness and to create an environment where each employee can fully contribute. Staffing & Recruitment Manages the process for temporary staff utilized in our facility. Acts as the company liaison with the staffing agency. Has oversight and involvement in all hourly hiring practices. Administers the hiring process for all employee groups. Support salaried hiring process. Partners with the training team to support the on-boarding process and integration of employees. Represent facility in unemployment claims process. Conducts exit interviews and tracks results. Labor Relations Attends labor management meetings and team meetings. Serves as note-taker for labor meetings Participates in and collects data to support the collective bargaining process. Other Assist in development or reengineering of innovative processes and systems (Reward & Recognition, attendance etc.) Provides reports to management on a regular and an ad hoc basis. Deliver training in various areas including training, coaching, orientation etc. Ensure compliance with all state, federal and regulations pertaining to Human Resources. Complies with and drives compliance with all HR, safety and quality practices. Initiate actions within the HRIS and manages employee files. All other projects as assigned. REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor’s (BA or BS) in Human Resource Management or related field (e.g. Business, Organizational Communication, Industrial Psychology), plus a minimum of three years work experience in Human Resources OR seven years of related work experiences may be considered acceptable in lieu of degree. EXPERIENCE: Requires 3-7 years related experience, ideally in either a specialist or generalist capacity within Human Resources Human Resource experience including employee relations, benefits, training & development and staffing. Knowledge of state and federal employment law and applications. Experience in a union environment. PHR certification is desirable Employee must support and comply with all Nestlé programs and policies, including, affirmative action goals and commitments, SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) strategies, corporate citizenship initiatives, NCE (Nestle Continuous Excellence), TPM (Total Performance Management), GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Safety Policies to ensure employee safety and product quality. Employee must meet all requirements related to NQMS (Nestle Quality Management System) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards for Quality, Food Safety, Environmental Compliance and Occupational Health and Safety. SKILLS: Strong administrative skills. Communication skills (verbal and written); Interpersonal Skills; and reading comprehension skills with legal interpretation. Strong organizational skills in maintaining electronic and paper documents and determining the best times to use each. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Ability to prioritize.
