Key Accountabilities Recruit, develop and lead a highly motivated, innovative PMC function, developing talent and a performance management culture, to drive value through employee engagement, exceeding all relevant targets and strategic objectives within the business unit. Manage all planned work (including maintenance), utilising allocated resources to produce cost effective, customer-focused and efficient service within budget whilst supporting various PMC projects, ensuring timescales and budgeted costs are met. Provide effective supervision and management of work planning and delivery of maintenance, defect, breakdown and operational activities, driving performance within a team to optimise work efficiencies and maximise asset and plant availability and reliability. Manage the ‘safe setting to work’ of all work activities in accordance with the safe control of operations procedures. Drive a team culture of safe working and safety compliance in all work activities with National Grid Policies and Procedures, authorising permission documents, undertaking incident investigations and safety/technical inspections on work undertake. This role will be based out of our Birmingham PMC depot. However, travel and overnight stays would be expected allowing you to visit stakeholders and work from other sites when required. Skills & experience required Good understanding of the operation and maintenance of high pressure gas transmission pipeline systems and above ground installations, associated plant & equipment, fault diagnosis and rectification (Pipelines) Good understanding of the operation and maintenance of aero-derivative or electrically driven machinery trains, associated compressor station and terminal plant & equipment, fault diagnosis and rectification (Compressors) Detailed understanding of the Safe Control of Operations procedures and Authorised as Authorising Engineer within SCO/91 & /94, and EL/96 for all work types, and undertakes role of Job Owner. Strong leadership, influencing, customer orientation and communication skills, providing the ability to promote team working and harmonious working between direct staff, project teams and contractors at all levels Qualifications HNC/ONC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline IOSH managing safely Valid driver's licence Our values and principles Every day at National Grid, through listening to what our customers need, we do the right thing and find a better way. What you'll get A competitive salary between £36,000 - £41,000 – dependent on capability As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
