Promotes customer service while investigating and resolving claims against the company in a fair and equitable manner, while minimizing financial loss. Investigates and pursues claims against other parties who have damaged company property and maximizes financial recoveries in a fair and equitable manner. Encourages practices that prevent or minimize losses and mitigates exposure to financial loss from claims resulting from the activities of the company. Inspires customer satisfaction through partnerships and problem solving. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Investigates facts and circumstances surrounding each claim incident. Organizes and maintains an electronic file and develops methods and tactics consistent with department and company policy. Investigates accidents and coordinates the billing and collection of money due the company from third party activities. Negotiates a settlement of the claim or assists in the litigation process by coordinating with the claims manager and/or defense attorney. Handles claims that have a potential exposure to the company of up to $1million. Leads Investigators and maintains consistency in the application of department and company policies and procedures. Applies technical knowledge, skills and judgment to solve problems. Works collectively with others in the Claims Department and maintains working relationships with other departments to facilitate the timely resolution of pending claims. Responds to customer and claimant inquires in a timely and professional manner. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and tasks concurrently. Effectively elevates critical priority items. Manages priorities for the best interests of the company while meeting multiple deadlines. Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company. Performs related duties as assigned. Requirements Essential Education, Skills, and Environment Education and Work Experience Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field from an accredited and 3 years of work related experience. Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 7 years of related work experience. Specialized Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated knowledge of: Legal process that is sufficient to participate with the claims manager, company attorneys and outside defense counsel in the planning and managing of litigation Conduct investigations, assemble data and organize a file leading to an analysis of the claim Negotiate a fair settlement with the claimant (or the party responsible for damage to the company) directly or with the attorney representing the claimant. Demonstrated skills such as: Communication (orally and written) including communicating and interacting with clients, upper management and law enforcement as well as writing legal communications Interpersonal skills in order to establish trust and maintain confidence Organizational and Negotiation skills in order to manage volume of assigned cases Aptitude to assess the nature and science of the company’s activities in order to evaluate the legitimacy of claims Interview and interrogation skills along with the capability to draft reports Promotes teamwork Operates well in a rapidly changing business environment. Compensation Annual Salary: $70,400.00 (Min) to $82,800.00 (Mid); Up to 10% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
