NOJA Power Switchgear manufactures and supplies globally a range of intelligent medium voltage switchgear. We have current research and development projects that will yield leading edge new products. We are seeking a Mechanical Draftsperson with one to two years industry experience who is very enthusiastic to learn and progress in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The successful applicant will enjoy being part of an organization taking Australian technology to the world. The role will report to R&D Switchgear Manager Key responsibilities of this role include: Creating manufacturing drawings and specifications of designs developed by other engineers in the team Creating 3D cad models of large assemblies based on sketches and layouts of design concepts developed by R&D Engineers Administration of the CAD data management system including creation and maintenance of libraries and templates. Preparing and maintaining product BOM and BOM cost estimates Communicating with suppliers and organizing prototype manufacture. Coordinating all the procurement activities related to product development Inward inspection and verification of parts manufactured and delivered by suppliers. Assisting the Engineers in Electrical, Mechanical, and Environmental testing of new products and prototypes. Hands on work in building prototype units for various in-house tests. The candidate should possess the following skills to be considered for the role Proficiency in Mechanical drafting with good understanding of AS 1100 standard Proficiency in 3D cad modeling (preferably PTC CREO) Understanding of top-down design methodology would be a real advantage Good understanding of manufacturing processes and process capabilities including various types of machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding metal casting and plastic mouldings. Experience in PLM systems would be an advantage (Windchill preferred). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Communicating with Australian and overseas suppliers is a major part of this role.
