We are seeking a driven and dynamic candidate for our Research Fellow post. The appointee will take a leading role in experimental transplant and translational research with a base at the University of Oxford. The project will be based upon novel applications of isolated kidney perfusion and the candidate will be embedded in an existing translational research team of scientists and fellows. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and multifaceted transplant research team and will have office accommodation and laboratory space within the Transplant Research Laboratory at the NHS Blood and Transplant Centre on the John Radcliffe Hospital site led by Professor Rutger Ploeg. The candidate will be supervised by Mr James Hunter within the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences. The clinical and on call part of the job will be undertaken at UHCW, with the additional opportunity of laboratory access and support in Coventry and organ retrieval commitments through Oxford NORS team. The research project will be primarily based in Oxford at the Transplant Research Lab on the John Radcliffe site. The laboratory has state of the art facilities and excellent post-doctoral basic-science laboratory support. The successful candidate should have some experience/training in research and ideally should have published in peer reviewed journals. The post would be well suited to a surgical trainee with an interest in transplantation seeking to complete a period of dedicated research. There will be opportunities for training in transplant and vascular access surgery and management of patients immediately post-transplant in the acute transplant clinic at UHCW.
