Responsibilities: NCI is seeking multiple Cabling Insfrastructure Technicians (casual/ part-time) to move, add and install low voltage cabling that is used for video, voice and data or other low voltage signaling. This requisition is being used to hire multiple technicians to provide surge support as needed across various programs and projects within NCI on a casual basis and will remain open until multiple casual technicians are hired. Candidate must have previous experience and will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing network data cables. Additionally, this position will also be responsible for maintaining communication rooms, cable supply inventories and associated documentation. (casual/ part-time position) Highlights of Responsibilities: Under routine direction, configures, implements, and maintains voice, data and network communications systems Monitors communications performance using visual, diagnostic equipment, status indicator checking methods, etc., to locate problems Utilizes electronic and telephone equipment, punch tools, and cabling tools Responds to local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) user requests for system upgrades and changes May provide maintenance support for various systems such as electronic mail, message centers, or other computer-automated communications systems Interfaces with vendors on new technology and system updates Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains telecommunications equipment Provides reports, completes requests for new service, and determines methodology for installing telephone service Determines appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications including call switches, test trunks and test links, and installs communication circuits Structured cabling installation, all media, in new and existing buildings Ability to understand and follow base building and electrical blueprints Lead and manage installation crew efficiently to maximize profitability Testing, troubleshooting, and documenting cable installations and telephony systems Build out of Telecom and Equipment rooms Adherence to BICSI standards, NEC, and local codes Interface with customer contacts in a professional manner Maintain updated documentation of current projects, labor hours, material, etc. Report any project changes, issues, or concerns to assigned contacts Conduct site surveys Attend project planning and progress meetings as needed Qualifications: Requirements: Associate’s Degree or equivalent related experience At least two (2) years of telecommunications/electronics vocational training, professional certification from an accredited technical school or equivalent military school 4 – 9 years of experience Secret clearance Preferred Education and Experience: At least four (4) years experience in integrating, testing Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions: Sitting for long periods Standing for long periods Ambulate throughout an office Ambulate between several buildings Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required Repeatedly lift and carry weight up to 25 pounds Travel by land or air transportation 25 % It is the policy of NCI to provide equal opportunity in recruiting, hiring, training, and promoting individuals in all job categories without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other protected class or category as may be defined by federal, state, or local laws or regulations.
