Murphy USA opened its first retail store near a Sam’s Club parking lot in Chattanooga, Tennessee in December 1996. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, we operate more than 1,100 Murphy USA and Murphy Express stores in 23 states throughout the U.S. - a growth that speaks to Murphy’s commitment to quality fuels, convenient locations, discount gas and customer service. Murphy USA is a high volume, low cost gasoline retailer strategically located primarily on site at Wal-Mart stores. Additionally we operate stand-alone locations branded as Murphy Express. Headquartered in El Dorado, AR, our stations are located in 23 states primarily in the South and Midwest. Murphy Express In November, 2006, almost a full decade after opening the first Murphy USA gas station, Murphy opened its first Murphy Express Store.
