Don’t take our word for it, check what our employees are saying! The Opportunity: We are looking for a Research Assistant to work in the Anaesthesia and Pain Management team. The Anaesthesia and Pain Management research group focuses on improving the quality of care received by children before, during and after their operations. This involves identifying and measuring how patients respond to anaesthesia. Research results can influence change in anaesthesia practice, to pursue clinical excellence. As our new Research Assistant your key role will be assisting with participant recruitment and data collection for of a series of research projects. Some of the projects include: A large international multicentre RCT looking at the effect of anaesthesia on infant brain development an observational study of EEG in young children under anaesthesia. a study aiming to assess how preoperative fasting effects the blood sugar and ketones in children having anaesthesia a study looking at whether chewing gum is as successful at treating nausea and vomiting after general anaesthesia as the standard of care a pharmaceutical study looking at the use of muscle relaxants in children As this role will involve working on many projects with a variety of stakeholders, it is essential you have excellent communication and engagement skills. You have worked in a similar role and are familiar with data and recruitment of participants for research projects/clinical trials. You have excellent time management and organisational skills as there will be several projects that the team will be working on. You are passionate, team focused and ready to work on exciting projects in the Anaesthesia and Pain Management space. Your natural problem solving, innovative and positive attitude will see you succeed in this role. This role will see you work in a team who will foster your innovation and dynamic approach while providing you with training in a supportive team environment to see you thrive. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Assisting with day to day running of clinical research projects Recruiting subjects into clinical trials Collection of accurate trial data Ensuring research projects are conducted according to ICH-GCP Research Participating in patient recruitment, ethics application processes and adverse event reporting Assists in / contributes to data generation for research and publications Leadership Sharing information and presenting to others within the Research Group or Theme and seeking opportunities to contribute to the skill development of others Supervises students, contributes to teaching and examination in the area of research expertise consistent with the conditions of the award You Demonstrate: Essential Working with Children & National Police Clearance (if appointed) in compliance with the Victorian Governments Child Safety Standards. A tertiary qualification in Bachelor of Science, applicable Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma Appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience and or training Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills Excellent time management skills, with ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines Highly motivated, reliable, and punctual Ability to work independently, be self-motivated as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team Desirable Experience in working with databases Experience and confidence in working with children On Offer: Part time (0.6) 12month contract Salary Range $ 78,296- 90,206pa (pro rata) + super + salary packaging On-site facilities include: childcare, Employee Assistance Program, mindfulness, gym, and bike storage… to highlight a few Apply Now Indeed Website Please Note ALL Applications must come via MCRI Careers only.
