Permanent Full-Time Mulgrave is one of Canada’s leading independent co-educational pre-K – 12 day schools, serving the North Shore of Vancouver. We are looking for a well-qualified and experienced teacher of Theatre to lead the Senior School theatre programme. The successful candidate will take a central role in the continuing development of our Performing Arts programme (Grades 6-12) both within and beyond the curriculum. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach an additional subject. Mulgrave is an established IB Continuum World School with a reputation for excellence and innovation. Students enjoy a holistic, pre-university and internationally focused education with an emphasis on four strands of education: the arts, athletics, service, and academics. Theatre/Performing Arts Teacher - Job Duties: Including but not limited to the following: Lead a vibrant theatre programme and culture in the Senior School, through performances, showcases, outreach, community events, etc. Demonstrate a deep understanding of and passion for drama and world theatre Connect with and inspire students to outstanding levels of achievement in the performing arts Teach IB Diploma Theatre (SL & HL) in Grades 11 & 12 and an IB MYP Theatre course in Grades 6-10 Lead students and colleagues in realizing Senior School theatre productions Serve as Homeroom Advisor for a group of approximately 12 Senior School students Teach courses in another MYP or DP subject (ideally English), based on experience, qualifications and interest Required Qualifications: Must be a Canadian resident and legally entitled to work in Canada or be prepared, with our support, to go through the process of applying for the appropriate visa and permissions from the Canadian and BC authorities prior to commencement Must meet or be willing to obtain all requirements to be certified to teach in British Columbia Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching drama/theatre to adolescents Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education or equivalent Preferred Experience and Qualities: Knowledge and understanding of the International Baccalaureate programmes and experience teaching IB Diploma Programme (DP) Theatre Ability to manage the time demands of an extensive performance and rehearsal schedule Involvement with the IB Educator Network as a Workshop Leader, Examiner, etc. Experience and skill in technical theatre Ability to teach one or more subjects in addition to theatre Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Strong organisational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills Connections with international theatre associations such as ISTA We offer a comprehensive salary and benefits package that is very competitive, as well as opportunities for professional growth.
