Job posting end date: JOB STATEMENT The Product Support Engineer Mill Lining is responsible for the support, administration and promotion for Mill Lining parts and services within the assigned territory. This Engineer will be capable of providing technical and administrative support to customers and to Account Managers. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Through close collaboration with the local sales and product support personnel to analyze Metso’s market potential in the assigned territory for aftermarket products (Mill Lining) in the mining and mineral processing industries. Develop a clear understanding of product promotion activity, quotes and customer needs, and effectively communicate and document this information to Product Support management and Services personnel. Actively pursue development of the designated products including new applications and expansion into new markets. Provide timely follow-up of all proposals. Administrate Grinding Mills installed equipment database in Mexico and Central America. Function as local customer contact for information concerning Metso products and services coordinating flow of information between customer service and Account Managers. Provide timely submission of call reports and competitor activity reports. Demonstrates cooperative team effort within work group. Works effectively with other groups and departments. Demonstrates respect for others. Work with Product Support group (Mill Lining) personnel to develop effective aftermarket-marketing programs to maximize business. Develop market-pricing strategies to increase aftermarket product penetration in the assigned territory. Position requires good customer relation skills, ability to work within a team environment, mechanical aptitude, creativity, innovation, and ability to see the larger picture. Perform other projects as assigned by management RELATIONSHIPS Reports directly to Manager – Product Support Mill Lining Mexico & Central America. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL INTERFACES Product Line organizations Mining BL Product Managers Local Accounting/Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Safety & Health organization Customers Suppliers Local and foreign manufacturing plants. AUTHORITY Authorized to review and analyze installed machinery information in order to follow up business development for Mill Lining within our region. Work along with account managers in order to achieve proposed plans, objectives and within guidelines as established by the Manager – Product Support Mill Lining Mexico & Central America. POSITION SPECIFICATION To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science degree in any Engineering discipline and/or equivalent contract management or sales/service support related experience in progressively responsible positions preferred. Familiarity with Mill Lining products and Grinding equipment in mines and quarries combined. Specific engineering experience associated with Mill Liners design and Grinding Mills is a plus.. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong leadership and relationship building skills, a bias for action and detail-oriented behaviors are required. A high level of computer skills is essential – Excel, Word, Lotus Notes and Access. A highly motivated, self-starting individual with the ability to plan, organize, work under stress, meet deadlines and work independently is required. Ability to work in a team atmosphere. Must be capable of effectively and accurately working on several projects at one time, and organizing, prioritizing tasks and working in a fast paced environment. Strong communication, co-operation, interpersonal and presentation skills to manage internal and external interfaces. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. Must be physically able to climb onto structures stairs, ladders, scaffolds at jobsites, customer facilities, industrial plants and mines, inspect equipment for failure and process analysis and enter equipment access points. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Use of keyboards, telephones, copiers, telefax, visits and movement through shops, and travel experiences. Must be able to effectively communicate verbally. Must have a valid driver’s license.
