Metis is a technology company with capabilities in scientific computing, aviation and space applications and systems development, spaceflight systems, ground systems, aerospace engineering, modeling and simulation, guidance and control, aviation safety systems and data analysis, and computing facility development and operations. The company provides technical services in these areas to Federal agencies including NASA and the US Air Force, and has developed a robust Internal Research & Development division via the Small Business Innovation Research program. Founded by Dr. Joy Colucci, Metis began operations in 2011 and is headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The company is a 100% woman-owned small business, with Dr. Colucci as the sole business owner providing hands-on oversight of all Metis operations. Dr. Colucci began her career as a NASA-funded science investigator in 1986, and has held senior technical program management and business division lead roles for Raytheon, Booz Allen Hamilton and SGT prior to forming Metis. The company has successfully performed on several subcontracts at Kirtland Air Force Base, NASA Ames Research Center, NASA Langley Research Center, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Schriever Air Force Base, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
