Position Summary: Upon completion of the trainee program, ideal candidates will transition into a field property adjusting position. At which time they will be responsible for visiting different properties investigating, evaluating, negotiating and settling basic Homeowners claims in a timely and efficient manner. While most of the time will be spent in a training capacity, which includes shadowing and participating in “ride-a-longs” of more experienced field adjusters, actual claims may be assigned under close supervision as part of the training process. Essential Job Functions: Must successfully participate and complete formal ten (10) week property claims training program. Upon completion of the training program ideal candidates should have an understanding of (settle basic Homeowners claims timely and efficiently by interpreting various Mercury policy contracts for appropriate coverage analysis, effective investigation technique, accurate evaluation and estimation utilizing learned estimating program, prevent unnecessary expense to the Company). Provides professional, courteous and timely customer service to aid in settlement process and maintain customer satisfaction Reviews claim files and recommends indemnity and/or expense reserve/payment amounts to supervisor for approval Excellent written communication skills to effectively and professionally document thought process in claim system applications and to customers. Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience Experience: At least 2-years related experience might substitute for educational requirement Knowledge and Skills: Strong Customer Service, ability to meet the needs of customers in crisis situations. Able to learn quickly and grasp new concepts in classroom setting. Working knowledge of office and business computer applications Makes quality decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment Ability to stay organized and work though influxes in work load. Willingness to physically inspect and assess properties that have undergone minor damages including fire, water, and structural damage May include climbing ladders to inspect roofing or attic space and inspection of crawl spaces Driving to and from multiple locations and occasionally outside of normal business hours Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
