Purpose Assist in the fabrication, construction, and testing of experimental systems in accordance with research protocols to develop new techniques. Primary Functions Assist with design and implementation of experimental techniques and software analysis techniques for biomechanical testing involving material testing pistons, motion capture systems, launching devices, and concussion studies. Perform detailed mathematical analysis of digital data and kinematic information gathered in quasi-static and dynamic testing. Design and fabricate devices and equipment as necessary for research Compile information into publishable quality formats. Compile information gathered from testing and analysis to generate complete reports to faculty and outside funding organizations. Assist faculty in timely preparation of manuscripts, reports, and grants. Communicate clearly and effectively with principal investigators, support staff, outside vendors, and technical personnel from funding agencies. Preferred Schedule: Position Requirements: Knowledge – Skills – Abilities Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management. Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills. Specifications Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree Minimum Required Experience: No experience required Preferred Education: Engineering or related field. Prefer a degree in Biomedical Engineering Preferred Experience: Prefer experience working in a research lab, experience with head injury, specifically concussion related research, data acquisition and analysis
