** Applicants can apply by using our Online Application form at: https://medi4.co.uk/recruitment/application-form/ ** To provide high quality and effective out-of-hospital care to the community, across a wide range of patient groups in a wide range of settings, and other allocated operational duties commensurate with the role and responsibilities, supporting and, where appropriate, administering the provision of clinical, social and holistic care to patients in an out-of-hospital environment, including Events, safely and within appropriate level of training and competency To act in accordance with Medi4 policies, procedures and protocols, and current legislation at all times, commensurate with the Medi4 Scope of Practice for Ambulance Care Assistants Duties, Accountabilities and Responsibilities: To respond to non-emergency situations, urgent requests for medical assistance, hospital admissions, hospital transfers, and patient transportation working as part of a crew or solo, or other operational duties, as indicated by the Operations & Clinical teams, in accordance with Medi4 operational requirements, clinical guidelines, policies, protocols, scope of practice, and procedures commensurate with this role. To ensure compliance with the appropriate sections of the JRCALC guidelines, Medi4 policies, procedures, protocols and scope of practice at all times, being personally accountable and responsible for decisions made during the course of duty, ensuring patients receive the highest quality and standard of holistic care and attention To support the work of qualified practitioners by using appropriate knowledge and skills in order to assist them to make professional judgements, assisting with conducting diagnostic procedures and treatments, if required by the qualified practitioners, safely and to the appropriate level of training and competency for the role, in accordance with Medi4 procedures, guidelines, scope of practice and protocols To ensure informed consent is obtained before treatment or intervention is undertaken, and to ensure that the communication of information between self, the patient and colleagues is handled sensitively, clearly, pro-actively and in a manner mindful of patient confidentiality. To ensure a continuous duty of care to patients, within the level of training and competency of this role, ensuring an appropriate level of monitoring and treatment is maintained and continued until the patient is either discharged or transferred to the care of another healthcare professional To ensure that a clear handover report is provided when required for the patient to be handed into the care of another health professional. This should record all pertinent patient information, in accordance with Medi4 procedure and that the transfer of patients into the care of others is conducted according to procedure To ensure the safe transfer of patients, to and from vehicles, following health and safety and other appropriate protocols and procedures, being mindful of the safety of patients, self, colleagues and others, using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques To respond to and communicate with patients, relatives, colleagues, other health professionals, other emergency responders and members of the public in a calm, caring and professional manner, treating them with dignity and respect at all times, regardless of the circumstance To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times and that personal / clinical information is only disclosed in accordance with Medi4 policy, procedure and protocol and in accordance with Information Governance regulations, whilst ensuring that all appropriate information is recorded in a timely and efficient manner To undertake a dynamic risk assessment on arrival at the scene of an incident in accordance with Medi4 policy and professional guidelines, having due regard for the health and safety of self and others, and to request additional support appropriate to the circumstances through the Operations & Clinical teams To practice in accordance with protocol, appropriate scope of practice and current legislation governing the use of medicines and medical gases, in relation to the storage and security of such items both while operational and on station To maintain timely communications with the Operations & Clinical teams as required, using any means available and appropriate To communicate and work with other emergency and health services, relevant authorities, healthcare professionals and the general public in an appropriate and professional manner To use all Medi4 equipment, facilities and premises in a careful, proper and mindful manner, paying due regard to safety and security at all times To carry out vehicle equipment checks and restock as required at the start and end of duty in accordance with Medi4 policy and procedures, ensuring that the vehicle is roadworthy, properly kitted, cleaned (paying particular attention to infection control) andstocked. Faults or omissions should be reported and all appropriate recording procedures completed. To drive Company vehicles in accordance with the Road Traffic Law, the Highway Code and Medi4 policy, guidelines and current legislation To maintain competency to operate all equipment: clinical, non – clinical, and information systems - used during the course of duties, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of equipment, and the safe use of equipment at all times, reporting faults in the appropriate manner To be responsible for the security of patients property during the transportation and hand-over at their destination To ensure that all clinical waste is disposed of according to Medi4 policy and current legislation To undertake all mandatory training and any additional training related to the advancement of patient care commensurate with this role To undertake continuous professional training and development. This is to include the development and maintenance of a personal portfolio of practical evidence which achieves the required professional standards in accordance with the requirements of the Medi4 Skills Framework, and company personal review programme. This portfolio is to be reviewed and signed off by the appropriate Education or Clinical Lead, or Supervisor, within agreed framework and timescales. To report any untoward incident immediately and in accordance with Medi4 policy To report any incidences of risk, neglect, abuse or endangerment to minors or vulnerable adults in accordance with Medi4 (see also Safeguarding below) To ensure that all documentation is fully completed for each patient and is handed over to the relevant receiving health care professional and then distributed in accordance with Medi4 processes and procedures. When working with clinicians it is the responsibility of the clinician to countersign the paperwork. Any other reasonable request by the company. Supervision Received: The post holder will report to the Operations \ Clinical Supervisor for Medi 4 and will work to agreed objectives for the Company. In addition, there will be regular review and monitoring meetings. Work will be autonomous but in conjunction with instructions from the Clinical & Operations teams. Special Conditions: The post holder must be prepared to travel to other company sites, to meet the requirements of the company for operational, training and business continuity purposes. Work Complexity: The job requires flexibility of mind and personal organisation to determine priorities and handle multiple issues at a time. Principal Terms and Conditions of Service: This is a uniformed post. To hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate and hold or be working towards a recognised ACA qualification, such as FREC 3 or equivalent Hours of duty are as per the Terms & Conditions of employment. The post holder will be expected to be flexible and hours worked may be at evenings or weekends. Though the post holder is expected to work additional hours as required to fulfil the duties of the post. This does attract overtime or time of in lieu (TOIL) if authorised by a manager. Annual leave allowance is 20 days plus bank holidays (pro rata). Mealbreaks will follow the Working Time Directive, and may be paid or unpaid dependent on arrangements with Clients. To perform any other duties commensurate with these responsibilities, the grade of the post and skill and qualifications of the post-holder.
