The College is committed to developing in our students the skills to be confident and creative learners in the world in which they live in for today and tomorrow This is a one year fixed term part time 0.6FTE role for a suitably qualified Fitness Coach who is enthusiastic to be part of a holistic educational program. Fitness Coaches at Marcellin College are responsible for implementing the College philosophy and modelling and supporting the goals of the College Mission – Education, Spirituality, Community and Justice. Fitness Coaches are expected to support the vision and goals of the College as a learning community and to be involved in professional development and ongoing learning. About The Role The Fitness Coach is part of a holistic educational program at the Depth Stage of Polaris. Consistent with the College’s Strategic Improvement Plan, we aim as a Catholic community to foster an inclusive culture that enables students to access learning designed for explicit growth and achievement. Fitness Coaches design sessions that are intended to increase engagement in personal learning and autonomy. Fortnightly sessions allow for the formation of a positive relationship between the Fitness Coach and the young men in support of their personal development. Requirements Applicants should be able to demonstrate: Essential A commitment to the Catholic ethos and Marist Spirituality A commitment to Child Safety and experience in creating a child safe culture A clear vision in how to effectively motivate students to be independent and self-regulators. Undergraduate degree in Exercise or Sports Ensure up to date understanding of current trends and professional practices in coaching principals and methodology. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to and engage with all members of the community Ability to be discrete and maintain confidentiality Highly Desirable Previous experience in exercise prescription, strength coaching, exercise rehabilitation, group conditioning training sessions, Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Accreditation and ASCA membership (desirable) Solid understanding of injury rehabilitation programs and practices. High level organizational skills An ongoing commitment to professional learning and personal growth Child Safe Compliance All applicants are required to: Provide proof of identification Complete a Child Safety Declaration Complete online Child Protection training Provide or agree to undertake a police check (National Police Certificate) Provide evidence of current Working With Children Check Applications close 5.00pm 14 February 2020.
