We are looking to recruit a caring and hardworking healthcare support worker to assist our trained staff to deliver care to critically ill patients in our busy Cardio-thoracic Critical Care Unit. Within the unit the role of the healthcare support worker is mainly one of support to the staff and does NOT have the same degree of patient contact as would be expected in a general ward. The main responsibilities would include supporting patient’s with basic care, maintaining stock levels, up keep of environment and decontamination of equipment within the clinical area to assist the Trust in reducing healthcare associated infections. The post requires flexible working. You will need to have: Level 2 NVQ in Health and Care Excellent communication skills – in particular listening skills A friendly, open, empathetic and compassionate communication style A strong ability to engage with patients, visitors and colleagues The ability to work well in a team
