Bargaining Unit Faculty MCCFO Assignment Location Center Campus Job Responsibilities Job Function An opportunity to join the Public Service Institute of a premier community college. The position is responsible for teaching students in the law enforcement discipline, actively assessing courses, refine and modify course syllabi, assist in course assessments of student’s achievements, and develop and modify course materials. Education Preliminary Qualifications A master’s degree or higher in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of law enforcement related experience. OR A master’s degree in any field and a minimum of 10 years of law enforcement related experience. Transcripts must be attached to your application. Preferred Qualifications The primary responsibility of this position will be to develop and teach courses in the Law Enforcement program. Additional instructional responsibilities include but are not limited to creating and proposing new courses, modifying current courses, developing relationships with transfer schools, service learning engagement with faculty and students, assessing course syllabi, outcomes and student achievement, active participation on college committees, and regular participation in department responsibilities. Academic Preparedness: A comprehensive, current knowledge of Law Enforcement providing the foundation for effective teaching and learning. Evidence beyond a Master’s Degree should be demonstrated by participation in professional associations, professional development, recognition and research. Experiential Background: Minimum of 10 years of Law Enforcement experience. Credentials: A master’s degree or higher in law enforcement, criminal justice or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of law enforcement related experience. OR A master’s degree in any field and a minimum of 10 years of law enforcement related experience If selected as a candidate, official transcripts must be provided before the interview. Written/Verbal Presentation Skills: If invited for an interview, you will be expected to make a classroom presentation for the selection committee to demonstrate your professional teaching and communication skills along with standards expected from students. Technological Proficiency: -Knowledge of computer-supported, -assisted, or based instruction and the ability to integrate into instructional practice. Curriculum Development: Knowledge of relevant curriculum development. Demonstrated ability to design or revise curricula to maintain relevancy and meet changing needs.* Assessment: Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to assess learning outcomes.* Pedagogical Flexibility: Knowledge of or commitment to learn and use a variety of pedagogical tools to enhance learning by students with varying backgrounds and learning styles.* Community College Mission: Knowledge of or commitment to learn the unique mission(s) in a comprehensive community college and its place in higher education.* Shared Governance: Knowledge of the concepts and practices of academic governance, including employee involvement and individual accountability.* (*This standard may be waived at the time of hire, but the newly hired teacher will be required to prepare a plan with his/her supervisor that will ensure the achievement of the standard by the end of the probationary period.)
