Job title: Higher Education Consultant - Scandinavia Line Manager: UK and European Sales Manager Location: Home-based from Denmark Purpose of the role: The key objective of this role is to manage and maximise sales of Macmillan International Higher Education products in the territory by building strong relationships with academics, heads of departments and booksellers and maintaining existing and creating new business. Key tasks To reach or exceed sales targets as given each year. Strategically manage a territory to prioritise opportunities and work in the best way to achieve the sales targets. Develop a strong commercial understanding of a territory in order to protect and maintain existing business and win new adoptions across our range of products. Organise time effectively to manage the territory throughout the year, ensuring effectiveness on campus, dealing with customer and bookseller requests in a timely manner, while keeping an eye on the bigger picture of the territory as a whole. Understand the wider business objectives delivered through sales conferences to ensure you apply the range of products and subject areas throughout your territory in line with these. Use consultative selling techniques to identify key stakeholders’ needs and match products to those requirements, presenting ideas and winning adoptions and direct sales. Work closely with key internal members of the team to ensure collaboration happens for the winning of business, namely the Sales Manager, Academic Partnership Manager, and subject Marketing Managers. To maintain and develop a good knowledge of our frontlist titles, backlist titles and digital products and be able to present them all confidently. Communicate regularly with sales colleagues, marketing and editorial departments on individual products and feedback and market requests and trends. Source data and deliver regular territory performance and adoption reports to line manager. Thorough management and upkeep of CRM system – up to date with current teaching teams, opportunities and new contacts in line with business objectives, and keeping an accurate and appropriate pipeline for achieving goals. Key relationships: Customers in the territory, including academics, head of departments, university administrators and booksellers. Sales Manager, Academic Partnership Manager, Campus Reps, Trade Reps, Sales Support, Marketing & Editorial departments. Qualifications: University Degree or equivalent English and Maths to at least GSCE level or equivalent Fluent written and spoken English Skills/knowledge: Consultative selling skills Consistent development and application of list knowledge including demonstration of key selling points to clients Proficient in explaining and demonstrating technical elements and key selling points of digital resources to key stakeholders Commercial awareness and analysis skills to constantly stay on top of opportunities in the territory Presentation skills - Preparation and delivery of oral, PowerPoint, and live digital presentations Effective written and oral communication with all stakeholder Effective at relationship building Strong time management and organisation skills Computer literate with comprehensive knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Proficient in using internal systems: (e.g. CRM systems, Sales Data systems) Able to manage own schedule and time, prioritise and work to deadlines Proven administration and customer service skills Attention to detail Experience: Sales experience, preferably field sales within the territory. Proven track record of hitting and exceeding targets. Knowledge and experience of the Higher Education market and/or products desirable but not essential.
