In anticipation of a contract award, MVM is seeking a Law Enforcement Coordinator to support the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Person (MMIP) initiative. The Law Enforcement Coordinator will support the US Attorney’s Office and collaborate with management, tribal liaison attorneys and the tribal victim assistance specialist along with law enforcement and government/non-government agencies to assist with a national response to MMIP issues. The ideal candidate must be extremely well-organized, experienced in investigations and legal matters, detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines in a timely manner. Key functions you will perform! Assist with the implementation of Savanna’s Act (should it pass), the Executive Order on establishing the Task Force on Missing and Murdered American Indian and Alaska Natives, and the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) MMIP initiative and other directives related to MMIP and other Native American issues concerning missing persons; Facilitate and participate in consultations and liaison activities with Native American tribal governments and other federal partners, including the DOJ; the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Bureau of Indian Affairs; tribal, state, and local law enforcement agencies; medical examiners; coroners; tribal, state, and local organizations that provide victim services; state and local governments; non-governmental agencies; and other MMIP stakeholders Arrange and facilitate training on missing person databases, alerts and other MMIP issues Coordinate creation of a current U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Oregon Missing and unsolved Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) list to include all unsolved, Oregon-connected MMIP cases and provide information about MMIP to the appropriate investigative agencies Gather reliable data to identify the MMIP cases connected to Oregon Serve as the District point of contact for data entry into National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUS) and other systems, as appropriate Develop procedures to ensure new cases and reports are accurately documented and that cross-jurisdictional communication is in place Assist in the preparation of protocols for informing tribal governments, the media, and the public about MMIP in conjunction with federal law enforcement agencies Organize efforts such as planning, scheduling and conducting outreach to MMIP stakeholders to develop a consensus on MMIP response issues to the extent possible Develop an understanding of existing federal, state, local and tribal guidelines for MMIP cases Draft and edit guidelines, protocols and procedures, take minutes, facilitate communication, develop systems, collect statements and data, draft and analyze reports, create graphs and other media for presentations Perform other related duties as required by the district’s MMIP program What you will need to have: Bachelor’s degree or higher is required Experience working with law enforcement, prosecutors' offices and advocacy groups Experience working with tribal governments or entities Experience reviewing and analyzing information, providing written reports and analysis, and developing guidelines and policies Must have valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle Proficiency in using spreadsheets, databases and word processing software Ability to undergo a seven (7) or ten (10) year MBI background investigation Three (3) professional references included along with resume with demonstrated experience related to the role Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Security Requirements: U.S. Citizenship and Favorable credit check Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance Preferred Qualifications: Active Public Trust level clearance is preferred Local to the Eugene, OR area Extensive experience in law enforcement investigations with experience in murdered or missing person cases in Indian Country preferred Experience working with tribal governments or entities in Oregon preferred Ability to deliver the highest quality of work under extreme pressure Strong organizational and communication skills Analytical and problem-solving skills These requirements are thoroughly reviewed during the employment screening process.
