Loopstra Nixon LLP, a mid-size Toronto law firm (located in northwest Etobicoke) is looking for an intermediate Law Clerk/Legal Assistant to join our growing Wills & Estates practice. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience and be organized, proactive and familiar with document management, billing and docketing systems. REQUIREMENTS: Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma Detail oriented with strong organizational skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Clerical accuracy, proof reading Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of programs Ability to multi-task and prioritize Able to work independently as well as actively participate as part of a team Professional demeanour and ability to provide a high level of internal and external customer service Desire to learn on the job and expand skill set Familiarity with Will and Power of Attorney documents, probate applications and the Rules of Civil Procedure (filing/serving court documents) is an asset. DUTIES: Document editing and assembly Assist with meeting coordination and scheduling Organize and maintain lawyer files (both litigation and solicitor files) Assist with preparation of Will and Power of Attorney document packages for clients Assist with preparation of Will probate applications File inventory tracking Work on multiple matters simultaneously, and often with short timelines Prepare routine correspondence (fax & email) Administrative support, including opening and closing files and billing Other duties as assigned Benefits: Extended health care Vision care Disability insurance On-site parking Vacation & paid time off Parental leave Dental care Life insurance Company events & social hours Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Experience: wills & estate practice: 3 years (Preferred)
