An exciting number of opportunities have arisen for highly resourceful and motivated Support Workers to join our Community Mental Health Team in Birmingham. Here at Longhurst Group we want to deliver excellent Care and Support Services which are both individualised and customer-led, promoting wellbeing and support for people who, because of mental health issues, require support to maintain their homes and links within the community. You will travel across the city to deliver support to individual people within their homes. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will: Maximise independence of people requiring support, enabling real choices in how they lead their lives Provide housing related support such as supporting people to access their benefits entitlements; pay their rent and household bills; secure appropriate accommodation; access employment, volunteering and training opportunities. You may also be required to assist some people with personal care, administering medication and undertaking domestic chores Maintain accurate records of support provided, maintaining risk assessment and support plans About You Our ideal candidate will possess a passion for working in the care sector and will appreciate the importance of providing care for vulnerable adults. We are looking for a Mental Health Support Worker who will go that extra mile whilst working as part of a team. The need to work flexibly in this role and be reliable is paramount. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will: Be flexible to work a variety of shift patterns including some evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Be confident, reliable and interested in supporting people to live independently. Be able to establish positive relationships and be a good team player. Demonstrate an understanding of the issues related to mental health. Demonstrate a commitment to challenging negative views and being able to give people the hope and belief that they can improve their lives. Demonstrate empathy, patience, humour and a ‘can do’ attitude.
